Product Retouching Guide

UltraPic Post By UltraPic Updated January 14, 2026

UltraPic offers two retouching modes — AI Retouching and Studio Retouching — each designed for different shooting conditions and use cases.

AI Retouching Mode is primarily designed for amateur photography. Simply capture a clear product photo with a clean background, and AI Retouching will transform it into a professionally lit and retouched image.
Example: Strength setting - High

Studio Retouching Mode employs the principle of removing low-frequency imperfections while preserving high-frequency details. It allows precise parameter adjustments to achieve professional blemish removal without altering the photo's inherent shape or lighting. This mode is ideal for processing images captured by professional photographers.
Example: Smoothness setting - Medium

Shooting Guidelines

AI Retouching is designed for non-professional product photos.
To achieve the best results, please follow the recommendations below when shooting.

1. Recommended Focal Length
Camera:
Use a focal length equivalent to 90–120mm (full-frame).
Smartphone:
Use a telephoto lens or zoom to 4-6* before shooting.
Medium-to-long focal lengths help reduce perspective distortion and improve AI background removal and lighting reconstruction.

2. Background Requirements
Use a clean and simple background
A white wall or white paper is recommended
Place the product on a table or stool close to the wall
Avoid colorful or complex backgrounds, as ambient colors may affect the product’s color accuracy.

3. Lighting Requirements
Use a bright, even white light source
Avoid harsh or unattractive reflections
Ensure all text and product details are clearly visible
Complex studio lighting is not required, but sufficient brightness is essential.

4. Image Clarity
Product edges should be sharp and well-defined
The product must be clearly separated from the background
Avoid blur, motion shake, or out-of-focus images
Clear edge information helps the AI process the image more accurately.
