How to Use UltraPic to Remove the Background Color of An Image?

UltraPic Post By UltraPic Updated July 10, 2025

UltraPic's background removal feature allows users to quickly and easily remove or change the background color of images with simple and intuitive operations.
It's widely used in e-commerce, social media, design, photography, image retouching, and so on.

The steps for removing the background

Step 1: Upload an Image

Open the UltraPic website, then upload an image that you need to remove the background from.

There are three ways to upload an image:
1. Drag and drop the image you want to edit directly onto the UltraPic main page.
2. Alternatively, you can click the “Open Image” button on the page to select and upload an image from your device.
3. If you don't have a suitable image on hand, UltraPic also provides sample images for you to click and test.

Note:

  • These formats are supported: png, jpeg, pjp, jpg, webp, jfif, pjepg, bmp, ico.
  • Images shot against a clean, uniform background, especially against a white or solid color background, will generally lend themselves to much better image editing (especially background removal and cutouts).
  • When importing images, if the long side of the image exceeds 3840 pixels, the program will scale the image proportionally to 3840 pixels on the long side.

Step 2: Automatically Remove the Background

After the image is successfully uploaded, UltraPic will automatically recognize and remove the original background and replace it with a transparent background.

Note: If you want to export images with transparent backgrounds, select the .png format when exporting.

2. Click on the “Remove BG option.
3. Under this section, you can choose how to set a new background color:

  • Select a common background color provided by UltraPic.
  • Customize the color by entering the HEX, RGB, or HSL color code.
  • Use the “Smart Picks” tool to pick the color you want from the image or elsewhere.

Step 4: View the Before and After Comparison

To visually compare the effects before and after adjusting the image background, you can click the “Compare” option in the lower right corner of the interface. This will help you confirm whether the adjustments have achieved the desired results.

Other Settings

Adjust image display ratio

In the lower right corner of the interface, you will find the option to adjust the image size. By default, it is set to “Fit to screen,” which means the image will automatically adjust to fit your monitor size. You can manually change this setting as needed to achieve a more precise view.

Adjust canvas size

The top-right corner of the interface provides functionality to adjust the canvas size. This is particularly useful when you need a specific output size or want to add more white space to the image. You can modify the canvas width and height according to the specific requirements of your project.
This feature locks the aspect ratio by default. When you adjust the height (width), the width (height) will be scaled proportionally. There are several default ratios to choose from below, including the original ratio, 1:1, 2:3, 3:4, 9:16, and so on. Selecting any of these ratios means that the aspect ratio will be locked.
If you need to freely adjust the width and height, click the lock icon between the two aspect ratio input boxes to unlock it.

Tip

If you refresh the page, the image you are currently editing will be lost.
The program does not save the images you upload to the server and will clear them shortly after you finish editing, so there is no need to worry about privacy leaks.
At the same time, we recommend that you save the edited image in a timely manner.

Summary

UltraPic's background removal feature is primarily designed to help users quickly remove or change the background color of an image. This feature automatically identifies and removes the original background, eliminating the need for tedious manual cropping steps. After removing the background, users can easily select a solid color as the new background, whether it's a preset color, a custom color code, or a color selected from the image.
Therefore, its core value lies in simplifying the process of changing an image's background, making it a quick and efficient task.
